CREDENTIALING PROGRAM

DOD CREDENTIALING PROGRAM FOR 
PREVENTION PERSONNEL (D-CPPP)

INITIAL APPLICATION

All Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) personnel levels 3-5 must be military, DoD civilian employees, or U.S. Coast Guard personnel and hold this DoD Credentialing Program for Prevention Personnel (D-CPPP) credential to perform IPP duties. IPP level 2 support personnel may be eligible to be credentialed, per the discretion of the military services.

RENEWAL

As outlined in DD Form 3191, to maintain the D-CPPP, it must be renewed annually for levels 3-5 and may be renewed biennially for level 2. D-CPPP holders may begin the renewal process by completing DD Form 3191.

INITIAL TRAINING: DOD SPARX KNOWLEDGE

DoD SPARX Knowledge Part 1 and 2 training certificates are required prerequisites to apply for the D-CPPP credential.

DoD SPARX Knowledge Training Part 1 consists of Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) courses:
  • PREV-001 Violence: A Preventable Public Health Issue
  • PREV-002 Sexual Assault in the Military and the Way Forward
DoD SPARX Knowledge Training Part 2: Prevention of Harmful Behaviors in the Military
Now available as an online asynchronous course. Directions: To find the full course curriculum, first log into JKO, then in the “Search Catalog” section, type in “Prevention”. Scroll down to “Curricula” and select “Enroll” next to the curriculum name to enroll in the complete curriculum. Note that this will enroll you in 12 total JKO courses, including the final exam.

Also available as a two-week synchronous course.

CONTINUING PREVENTION EDUCATION

To renew the D-CPPP credential, renewal applicants must have completed the required number of Continuing Prevention Education (CPE) hours related to understanding and implementing integrated primary prevention, in accordance with their D-CPPP level and outlined in DoDI 6400.11. To find already approved CPE activities, or to verify if an activity you have participated in qualifies for CPEs, please review the List of Approved CPE Activities posted on SPARX Connection Online Community of Practice. This list is not directive or exhaustive.
